Berlin Designer Apartment Marlene
Welcome in the house of birth of the famous Marlene Dietrich.
What is now Leberstrasse 65 in Berlin, is the place of birth of legendary Marlene Dietrich. To this day, this part of Schöneberg is know to most Berliners, and is also known as "Rote Insel" (Red Island).
In the rear building of this house, the apartment is located on the 3rd floor. It was extensively renovated in a style that combines elements of industrial, modern and 50's looks with original elements.
The apartment has 45 sqm (484 sqft) and is a mostly open space. Only the bathroom is separated from the rest by an illuminated glass wall. The shower has changeable lighting, with alternating or fixed colors, as you prefer it.
The dining table seats three, but seating is extendable to six. An open kitchen with gas stove and kitchen hood is integrated in the living space.
The bed is on a podium, from where you can oversee the whole place. In the colder months, you can also light up the wood-burning stove and enjoy an evening by the fire. The apartment of course has regular heating, too.
The LCD TV is swivel-mounted, so it's usable from the bed as well as from the seating and dinner areas. The stereo system has an ipod/iphone dock, WiFi is also available for free. Since april 1st, the apartment has it´s own Wifi, with up to 16 Mbit.
Leberstrasse is conveniently located with two bus lines stopping at the front door and two local train stations (S-Bahn) within 5-10 minutes walking distance (or 2-3 bus stops). The bus takes you close to the famous KaDeWe within about 12 minutes. With the S-Bahn you can reach classic highlights like Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz in a few minutes. At Südkreuz station you have access to the S-Bahn as well as many of the ICE trains (highspeed trains).
Several small parks as well as the industrial monument "Gasometer" are very close by and are good for nice walks. Larger parks like the Tempelhof airfield, Tiergarten and others are also easily accessible.

It isn't big, but has all the comforts to be without fancy. The cottage is charming but no designer tiny house, no standard furniture from Ikea. The center of Berlin and Potsdam are quickly reached. Private access, balcony with water view, terrace and garden around. Living room with kitchen, bathtub, bedroom and extra sleeping space for an extra charge on the sofa bed. We live next door, so never an access or key issue. We are on the wall path. Also pets are welcome.
