Do you plan to visit Brussels but don’t know anything about it ?
Most of your friends even wonder why you decided to do so ?
Why Brussels ?
Well I can give you more than 43 reasons why you should visit this city. A city with soul and an age-old history, Brussels has something to offer for everyone !
Since the laying down of its first foundation stone in 580, Europe has witnessed Brussels’ evolution to power at a lightning speed. It has been the capital of numerous territories – Burgundy, Brabant, the Netherlands, Belgium and now Europe. Today with 159 embassies and 2500 diplomats, Brussels is the world’s second seat of diplomatic relations. Its refined heritage has been coveted and prized by many. But how did this young city acquire such a prominent role so rapidly in Europe since the Middle Ages? Join me as I walk you through the history of this city and tell you stories about its past and its present.
During our journey we will visit the most important historical sites of the city, many are part of Unesco’s World Heritage. As we walk through the historical center, I will also introduce you to Belgium’s renowned artisanal and trappist beers, its chocolate making culture and its love affair with waffles. All this and much more packed into a neat 2h30 minutes walk. I guarantee to make you fall in love with Brussels!

Handmake your own silver ring
You will join me in my workshop in the heart of Old Bruges and learn to handmake your own sterling silver ring.
During our time you will have hands on experience of forging, shaping and finishing your own silver ring.
First you will choose which finger you would like the ring for, measure your silver and cut to size using a handsaw.
Next you will choose from a wide selection of hand stamps to add a custom message onto the inside of the ring. This could be a name, date or your favourite beer!
You will learn how to hammer the silver into a ring shape using mallets and a triblet.
I will then heat and solder your ring while explaining the process of heating and joining silver together.
Next I will show you how to add textures and markings to your ring. This is your unique ring and your time to really show your creative side!
The last step will be to choose the finish and polish; this could be highly polished to add some sparkle, a satin finish or even a rough forged look to your ring.
Finally you will have your own silver ring to keep, handmade by you in the Heart of Old Bruges, a fabulous and unique way to remember your trip to our magical city.
Other things to note
No previous experience of jewellery tools or working with silver is needed to enjoy the workshop and make a ring.
We will use 925 sterling silver for your ring.

Brussels through its comics murals - Tintin, Asterix, Smurfs
As you might not know Belgium is not only famous for its waffles, beers and chocolate but also for being the cradle of the 9th Art : comics (known as "bande dessinée -BD" in French). Never heard of Tintin, The Smurfs, Lucky Luke, Astérix, ... ? To commemorate the link between Belgium and comics, 50ish murals have been painted throughout Brussels' center since the 90's (and a few more a bit outside of it).
So together we will discover Brussels’ center throughout the visit of some of those comics murals/paintings. I will give you some short explanations on each of them and will answer your questions if you are curious on the subject. Of course there will be many other points of attention along the way like buildings, squares, and street art. If interested I can also give you my inner opinion and some tips for your next visits (bars, restaurants, museums...) .
As the tour is not a 5 hours tour, please don't expect to see all the comics murals that are quite widespread in the city and to receive long historical explanations on each buildings that we will encounter. It's not a historical tour, others do that better than I could :-) The point of this experience is to discover a part of Belgian comics culture/history and to show you -through a selection of comics murals- some streets and neighborhoods you probably would not have visited on your own...

Belgian Chocolate Workshop / Hands on Activity
!! Activity in English !!
After a short but super useful introduction, we will split into teams of 2 or 3 and start to temper the chocolate - in order to make it shiny and snappy!
Each participant will be working with its own mold and will have to make its own chocolate shells (up to 21 per person!) then we will be cooking all together the praline filling ( milk/dark chocolate ganache - vegan & dairy free alternatives are available -) before working on mendiants. You will have the possibility to make from 5 to 15 or even 20 mendiants per person, depending on how motivated you're feeling!
Following that step, you will be piping the filling inside your own shells and covering them of nice liquid chocolate, a delish!
While we wait for the chocolate to harden, you will be invited to taste some real, good, hot chocolate and ask any question about chocolate making or the city of Brussels.
Before each step, there will be a demonstration, so you know exactly what to do and what you have to get to! I usually write down all the recipe on the table, feel free to take a picture of them for your own records.
After 2.5h you will have learned some essential chocolate making techniques, master the chocolate crystallizing process and leave the workshop with a nice golden box filled up of 35+ of your very own delicious Belgian chocolates. Whether you decide to share them or no....Enjoy!

Sketch walk with an artist
Whether you a total beginner or a professional artist, come join me on this drawing walk through the city center. To warm up, we'll start with a few fun and simple exercises, including drawing without looking at the paper, drawing with your eyes closed etc.
Moving from place to place, we will begin to create stories, comics, sketches - all inspired by our surroundings, the city, its inhabitants, the small and big things that happen all around us. Starting in the reality and taking it into imagination - and it is up to you where you take it! All with a healthy portion of humour, imagination and a few surprising twists and turns. I'll be guiding you through the walk with prompts and suggestions that will help you create and practice new ways of seeing.
By the end of the walk you will have participated in a creative, healthy activity, seen the city in a new light and created several stories, comics or drawings to take home as memories.
Advance warning: this experience will involve lots of laughter!
Other things to note
The walk will take around 3 hours so bring any drinks and snacks if you think you'll need them, especially on a hot day.
Vintage and second-hand tour in the centre of Brussels
We walk the streets of Brussels in search of vintage and second-hand gems.
What? This experience is more than a normal tour of Brussels, because it is also an introductory tour of the sustainable fashion industry. In fact, I will guide you through the centre of Brussels and during the tour I will share with you fun facts about the different districts and take you to some of its most special and hidden shops.
Where? We will pass through the areas of Les Marolles, Grand Place and St Catherine. At the end of the tour, I will give you a brochure with a list of other vintage and second-hand shops to visit in different parts of Brussels.
Why? Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world and currently contributes 10% of the annual carbon emissions (more than all international flights and shipping combined). Moreover, faced with cases of underpayment and unsafe working conditions common in the fast fashion industry, discovering vintage and second-hand shops can become a practice to support not only environmental sustainability, but also a human sustainability of social justice.
When? Every Saturday and Sunday morning (different dates are available on request). Contact me at grazioliaurora@gmail.com

Brussels Beer Tasting Tour
Join our award-winning tour and start learning about the golden liquid of Belgium. You’ll be amazed by how much you experience and learn – in only 4 hours! Interesting aspects of Belgian beer and reasons for its top-quality reputation are its ingredients, flavours, alcohol percentages, brewing methods and, of course, the beautiful and unique, brewery-specific glasses.
You can waste time and money on tasting beers that don’t meet your standards or please your taste buds. Or you can take the Brussels Beer Tasting Tour! Experience a carefully-curated collection of the 8 best Belgian beers, selected on the basis of more than fifteen years of field research.

We’re talking about those with authentic, sometimes even medieval accents. And certainly, those not normally visited by tourists! Among other delights, discover the location of the oldest pub in Brussels – and that the Manneken Pis statue is not alone, but has feminine version
The Theatre Royal de Toone is also on the list – to give you an idea of the kind of medieval entertainment once (and still) enjoyed by Belgians.
