Be a Beekeeper for a Day
Come experience the wonderful world of the honeybee where we encourage you to take pictures. We begin our 1 1/2 hour experience near Tampa, Florida. I have several different locations to choose from ranging from Farm to urban areas. The address showing will not necessarily be the place that you will have your experience. I can be flexible as to location. We will begin with a demonstration of the equipment utilized in beekeeping as well as dressing up in our full bee suits and then immediately start the hands-on experience. At this point you will be able to see, feel, hear and touch apis mellifera (the European honey bee!) as I guide you to a better understanding of these amazing creatures. During our time together you will manipulate equipment, ask questions and get a practical appreciation of the bees. After, you will enjoy a refreshment while we discuss your recent experiences. Upon completion, we provide a 5 oz honey jar and honey dipper to say thank you and as a memento of being a beekeper for a day! Things to note: There is always a chance of getting stung, So if you are allergic to bees please come with your epi-pen or choose a different experience. We want you to come away from this feeling alive and in tune with the natural world. The climate here can be hot and humid or cold and damp, please dress accordingly. You will be wearing a full bee suit.
Honey Bees Up Close - Bee A Keeper
Your 1.5+ hour interactive experience with a bee colony begins with a multimedia overview of the life of a bee and the different jobs a bee has as they mature. Learn the parts of the hive. You’ll see a hive and learn how to hold a frame (without squishing the bees -they don’t like that). We’ll get suited up. Light a smoker. Do a safety check, and approach the hive. At the hive you’ll see and feel the power of propolis (a supplement for humans as well) -- its the glue bees use to seal up the hive. We’ll lift the lid and go inside. For some, that’s might be as far as they want to go. But, if you want to see more, we will do a complete hive inspection: Pull frames to see how the bees create honey and keep the colony alive. You’ll see open “wet cells” of nectar that are still in the process of transforming into honey. You’ll see capped honey, tiny freshly laid eggs and all the stages of bee development ( larvae, caped brood, and newly emerging “baby bees”). I’ll show you how beekeepers help control pests (other insects and diseases) and keep the bees healthy so they can do their important work. You’ll hold frames of bees and feel the weight of a full frame of honey when compared to a frame of bees. There’s always time for selfies. You’ll sample honey & enjoy a cold beverage

Participants are encouraged to make a reservation to dine at the Columbia Restaurant (founded in 1905) at the conclusion of the tour. This trip is for the individual who wants to engage in an authentic and historic Tampa experience. If you'd like a more individualized experience, I can tailor a more customized tour based on your specific areas of interest. For this, I would need a minimum of 4 participants. Learn the History & Hidden Secrets of Disney Springs
IMPORTANT NOTE: Message me about a special combo price to include this tour with a meal experience at Disney Springs! As any Disney fan knows, everything the Imagineers create, from our attractions, resorts, cruise ships, and stores, begins with a story...and Disney Springs is no different. You'll join me as I walk you through the Springs and teach you the (fictional) story created for Disney Springs by the Disney Imagineers. You'll learn how Martin Sinclair established his homestead over 100 years ago and see the original cabin he lived in with his wife Clara. I'll tell you the rich history of the Glowing Oak Ranch, it's growth, and how The Springs grew into a thriving and prosperous city. Many of the existing buildings at what became Disney Springs are the legacy to this growth, and if you know where to look (which I will show you), you will discover a wealth of Easter eggs, "original" artifacts, and other details. By the time we're done, you'll have experienced the growth of what began as a humble ranch and evolved through prohibition (including the recently uncovered speakeasy...), the industrial age, and the 1950's Grand Centennial Expo into what is now the present day Disney Springs. Who ever knew?

Scenic Dining with Local Chef
I am offering a unique dining experience unlike any other you’ve ever had. The experience includes two courses and wine pairing. The first course is an appetizer and the main course consists of a protein, starch, and vegetable. When booked far enough in advance, I send a proposed menu and begin working with guests to develop a menu that is suitable for them. However, there are limitations when hosting the experience on the beach. I do not have access to a kitchen so I must choose food that will hold up nicely in a hot box without compromising its quality or becoming unpalatable. I can accommodate vegan, vegetarian, and other specialty diets but please contact me before booking. Also, take some time to read the reviews as they provide valuable insight about the experience from the diner’s point of view. When the weather permits the experience takes place on Davis Islands Beach in Tampa, FL. You will be dining on a public beach and enjoying a view of the water from the sand. During hurricane season (June to November), rain is likely. The experience may be moved indoors or rescheduled. After food is purchased and prepared I will not authorize a refund due to inclement weather.
