Bays & Beaches of Ullswater by Kayak
Ullswater, quite rightly, is considered the most beautiful of the big lakes. It features bays & beaches, islands and lots of scenery. The ethos on the trips is always the same. Enjoy the scenery, have a chat, pass on a bit of knowledge to, and learn from, people looking for a similar venture. The first thing we'll do is sort out what's needed for the trip and introduce the boat. We use double ( tandem ) sea kayaks, unless there is an odd number of people on the trip, then the single is available. This is followed by a quick brief on what to do, then it's on to the water. There's no set route or furthest out point. I'll always take the group and the conditions into consideration. There is beautiful scenery all along the lake. Free parking for most trips ( some parking restrictions May - Sept & Bank Holidays ). Be aware that if you have a BMI of 26 or over, weigh over 102 Kg ( 16 Stones ), or have very little upper body strength, this Experience is not for you.

Coniston Old Man - A guided walk brings this giant to life
Coniston Old Man rises above Coniston like the Matterhorn towers over Zermatt. The tourist path climbs directly up this benevolent giant but our route tackles this deeply loved character by a much more interesting approach. Following the ‘Walna Scar Road’ – an ancient pack horse route – we climb an easy gradient to the raised moorland of Banishead, before turning in to the heart of the mountain through the stunning corries of ‘The Cove’ and Goat’s Water. Here the towering buttresses and dark gullies of Dow Crag rise from the black water to provide a dramatic mountain landscape. A short climb brings us to Goat’s Hawse before we continue upwards to the summit of Coniston Old Man with its sweeping panoramic views. After enjoying the magnificent views we descend via the interesting North East ridge past old abandoned quarries, ruined buildings and beautiful Low Water. Where we may even have time to enjoy a paddle. During this walk we will enjoy magnificent mountain architecture, have a glimpse into the mountain’s history and see why Coniston Old Man is an integral part of the valley’s history. The terrain includes mountain paths, rough stony ground and short steep climbs.
Kiln formed glass taster experience
Make an object in kiln-fused glass. (3.5-4 hrs, limit 2 adults). Be inspired by our range of colours. The aim is to enjoy turning your choice into a unique piece to take home! On the premises next to our AirBnB accommodation is the glass workshop. We maintain a Covid safe environment respecting current distancing regulations, cleaning schedules and mask wearing. After orientation and safety briefing we hand over your starter pack of goodies including PPE. We explain the range of glass techniques, what happens to glass in the kiln, cutting and cold working. Making a pair of 10cm square coasters is a good way to get started, but you might want to make a colourful 10x20cm panel to hang on the wall. We'll develop your cutting skills and help your chosen design become a reality. If you already know your way around kiln-formed glass, why not create a slumped dish, or move onto more advanced techniques? If engraving is more your thing, produce your choice of design using our sandblaster. NB: Kiln glass can produce unexpected results, often interesting - never guaranteed! Simple objects as described achievable in 3-4 hours.

Meditate with horses
A brief but inspiring discussion on meditation and why we do it with horses will motivate you to be dedicated and vigilant in your practice. Then we go and meet the horses and I will teach you the basics in animal meditation. Then we groom the horses; this is the best way to get the horses to accept you as herd members as they bond by grooming each other. As we start to meditate, the more stable, connected and balanced the client, the easier it is for the horse to step into his role of soothing, regulating, teaching and inspiring with his gentle and peaceful energy. Often the horses will lie down and we can get down on the grass with them and be close and connected. We work on touching the horses in specific areas and watching for significant reactions to detect connection. There is often an opportunity to test your connection by asking the horses to follow you without a lead and then you can take a little walk together. We often finish with a beautiful guided meditation which will be chosen depending on the specific needs of the client. We always end the session with gratitude and a big horsey cuddle. Other things to note In the summer there may be flies. Bring sun hats and sun cream. Wrap up warm and water proof on winter and please wear wellies or firm boots. No experience of horses or meditation needed but please arrive with an open heart and an open mind.
