Villa in Gordes, France
Villa Sunset
Even though the walk to town only takes a minute, you still deserve a reward. So, wander the streets of Gordes until you find the perfect cafe to sit down for your morning coffee and a croissant that’s still warm from the oven. Before returning to your 17th-century hillside-home, stop in at a local market, bakery, or cheese shop to pick up an afternoon snack to enjoy on Sunset Villa’s valley-view terrace. Widely considered “the most beautiful hilltop village in Provence,” Gordes is steeped in authenticity. The white and gray stone buildings, of which Sunset is interwoven, wind their way up the hill, creating one of the most postcard-worthy views in Fr1ance. Exposed beams, rugged stone, and wood furniture complete the elegant, Old-World atmosphere inside. Outside, lush greenery from the garden climbs the stonewalls of the terrace providing shade for afternoon naps and privacy during alfresco dinners. When you’re not out exploring Gordes, Villa Sunset’s spacious layout is perfect for nights in with friends and family. Smart TV, a Sonos sound system, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning will make sure your party is cool and connected. After a formal dinner, unwind with a cocktail or a pop open a bottle of wine from a local vineyard. Then, watch the sunset as you splash around in the swimming pool. The architecturally astounding village of Gordes is a photographers dream and a vacation destination all its own. However, this beautiful setting may inspire you to keep exploring. Luckily, the bustling city of Avignon and the canals of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorge are within a few kilometers. And, if you’re looking to sneak away for an afternoon on the golf course, Provence Country Club’s eighteen-hole is a great way to enjoy the dynamic views of the French countryside. All about France

Planning a vacation in France? We’re here to help!

Beautiful beaches, world-class skiing and charming cities waiting to be explored, France is a country that has so much to offer, it can be hard to know where to begin. Let’s start with an easy question - are you looking for a sunny escape or a culture-filled weekend away? The French Riviera offers beaches galore, paired with charming beach towns, while Provence offers a mix of beach, country, and culture. The French Alps are a must in ski season, but are equally fun for summer hikes, while Paris holds the crown as the country’s beacon of all things cultural. Whatever region you choose, some things are guaranteed - good food, good wine, and gorgeous scenery.

Cultural capital

The homeland of Monet, Baudelaire, and Debussy, it’s no surprise that France is considered one of the world’s finest cultural destinations. Whether you spend your days browsing books in Paris’ iconic Shakespeare & Co bookstore, enjoying an outdoor concert at the Avignon Jazz Festival or walking in the footsteps of Cezanne in Provence, you’ll find artistic inspiration in every corner of the country. Naturally, the greatest concentration of  museums is in Paris - some of our favorites include the Musée d’Orsay, which houses a host of most iconic impressionist paintings, the Orangerie - where you can see Monet’s huge water lilies displayed, and the Rodin Museum, which shows off the sculptor’s works in his former home and gardens, the hôtel Biron.

The world of wine

If you prefer more earthly pleasures, there’s perhaps no better place in the world to learn about wine than France. The country even opened a wine “theme park” for adults last year in Bordeaux. La Cité du Vin offers a sensory journey through wine - from its origins on the European continent to the biggest names in production today. And yes, there are vineyard tours and tastings along the way. From the rich red wines of Bordeaux to the refreshing rosés of Provence and the queen of them all, Champagne, a vacation to France offers you the chance to explore wine in all its forms. Your Luxury Retreats concierge can organize vineyard tours, private wine tastings and more.

Gourmet travels

What fun is wine without the delicious food to go alongside? Luckily in France, you’ll have plenty of both. The country is bursting with local markets selling farm fresh produce, just begging to be turned into a delicious dinner. If cooking is not your thing, we can organize a private chef to cater for you or book you into one of France’s 616 Michelin-starred restaurants for a feast that you won’t forget.

Experience our luxury villas in France

From Paris to Provence, the glamour of the Riviera to the challenging slopes of the Alps, our beautiful homes in France offer you the best in luxury vacation rentals, in the best locations. No matter which destination you choose, you can rest assured that you will find spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and in many locations, spacious outdoor terraces and private swimming pools. From one bedroom apartments in Paris, perfect for a romantic getaway, to estates on the Riviera that will accommodate your entire extended family,

Chic apartments in Paris

The city of light has been capturing the hearts of travelers for decades. It can keep you entertained for hours on end - from breakfast in a sidewalk cafe to long walks through the Tuileries gardens before hunting for treasures in the endless corridors of the Louvre. There’s no better feeling than knowing you’ve got a beautiful, central pied-a-terre to come back to when you feel like a break. Our luxury apartments in Paris are in prime locations, close to all the major attractions in the city, and many are found in the typical Haussmanian buildings that give Paris its unique appeal.

With charming original features like parquet floors, marble fireplaces and floor to ceiling windows, it can be hard to drag yourself away from the comforts of home - but as soon as you catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower through your living room window you’ll be up and out to savor the city once again.

Historic villas in Provence

Visitors routinely fall in love with the beautiful region of Provence, and with good reason. The golden sunlight, purple lavender fields and stylish avenues lined with plane trees are hard to resist. Add to the mix a historic stone villa with peaceful landscaped gardens and a welcoming swimming pool and you’ve got all the ingredients for an idyllic vacation.

Our Provence vacation rentals have everything you need to enjoy this beautiful region - such as shaded outdoor dining areas that invite you to relax with friends over a glass of rosé, and chef-standard kitchens where you can whip up a meal from the day’s market finds.

Estates on the French Riviera

Chic and glamorous with a hedonistic spirit, the French Riviera invites you to enjoy the finer things in life. From streets lined with designer boutiques to charming fishing villages and beaches lined with buzzy bars and cafés, there’s never a dull moment here.

Our French Riviera villas are close to the action but secluded enough that you can feel a world away from the pace of Riviera life whenever you choose. Our homes here are as stylish as you would expect - from expansive estates that would make Gatsby jealous to Bijou hideaways with a romantic air. Many of our homes have private pools, sun terraces and ocean views - the ideal place to end the day with a glass of champagne at sunset.

Chalets in the French Alps

Meribel, Courchevel and Val d’Isere; the French Alps offer some of the best skiing anywhere in Europe. With picturesque Alpine villages offering cozy fireside restaurants and lively bars, they have some of the best apres ski, too.
