Ice Fishing in Helsinki Region
Ice fishing experience in the heart of Helsinki
Helsinki has a centuries-old fishing tradition and you can catch many different species in the heart of the city - on the ice! I will teach you the traditional ice fishing technique used in Finland. You will get to walk and fish on the ice of the Baltic Sea in a safe way and get to see some Helsinki landmarks from the sea perspective. I will also tell you about the Baltic Sea and its unique wildlife. Baltic Sea is one of the biggest brackish water pools in the world, meaning it is not exactly a sea nor a lake, but something between! We will meet with the group at the Sibelius Monument in Helsinki, then continue to the fishing spot together, most likely by foot. I (the host) will arrange fishing gear, bait and the necessary safety equipment. Participants will need outdoor clothes suitable to the weather. Typical fish caught in the area: - Common: perch, Baltic herring, ruffe, roach & smelt (all edible) - Less common: zander, whitefish & sea trout (all delicious!) You can keep the catch if you want or you can donate it to the local rescue cats. Catching a fish through the ice can be hard sometimes, so I cannot guarantee a catch, but I can guarantee new and fun experiences and lots of fresh air! :)
Professional photoshoot in Helsinki
We’ll meet near the main railway station or somewhere else in the city center. The place of the photoshoot depends on the weather conditions, the location is negotiated before a photoshoot. I know nice places (libraries, orangeries, and such) where we can hide from the weather and take great photos. You’ll kill two birds with one stone and get to know closer places which are only used by locals. I also can arrange a photoshoot in a studio (contact me for details). If you want to get picturesque photos outdoors in the Nordic nature, we can take a walk in the Lauttasaari island or the Vanhakaupunki neighbourhood with a waterfall and a nature trail (20 min tram trip). If you prefer the center, we can take photos in the park of Botanical garden, the Senate square, Katajanokka, or the Töölö neighbourhood. You’ll receive the first 10 photos the same evening, the rest – within 7 days. As a result, you’ll have 25-30 professionally edited photos. Other things to note: Before a photoshoot I discuss outfits or, at least, colours of your clothes. It’s essential, because the outfits affect the result. I’ll send you examples of clothes and colours that will perfectly suit for a shoot in the location of your choice. Contact me for time outside the schedule. My main goal is that you get beautiful photos from mesmerising Helsinki, which will keep you warm with good memories.

Hike in a National Park and Sauna by a lake
Experience the relaxing and refreshing effects of a forest on this nature walk in a national park, enjoy a campfire barbecue and top it off with a relaxing visit to a traditional smoke sauna. During this experience, you will get to discover the beautiful Sipoonkorpi national park with a professional wilderness guide. The guide will lead you through the park and tell you about Finnish nature and wildlife around you. Our trail leads us to a rocky vista overlooking a forested lake where we will have a campfire barbecue. After the nature walk (total 6km) we will continue to the traditional smoke sauna next to the national park for a relaxing sauna and swim. The smoke sauna is held in the highest esteem by most Finns and will give us hot and smooth heat called - löyly - in Finnish. The smoke sauna is located next to a freshwater lake so we can go for a refreshing dip during our sauna breaks. After some fresh air, we will head back into the sauna to warm up again and then we will repeat the entire experience twice more. If you are brave enough to join us in the winter we will go for the famous arctic dip in the ice water! You may have heard that the Finns bathe in the heat naked, but since we are at the public mixed smoke sauna it is necessary to wear a bathing suit, so no sweat! (Okay, there still will be sweat.) * Feel free to request alternative tour dates! *

Architecture Tour of Helsinki
Helsinki is a gem for architecture enthusiasts. It is difficult to find another urban space that houses a wide range of architectural styles like Helsinki; neoclassical, gothic revival, Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, Nordic classicism, modernism, functionalism, and contemporary styles in a compact city centre. Different historical periods left their marks on Helsinki, however it is easy to miss these great works of world renowned architects (from Engel to Saarinen, from Aalto to Siren and Revell) in ordinary city tours. We will start with the old center of the city, visiting Helsinki Cathedral and National Library of Finland designed by Engel, the most influential architect in Helsinki in the first half of 19th century. We will then visit 3 important works of world famous architect Alvar Aalto (Stora Enso HQ, Academic Bookstore and Rautatalo). We will continue with Eliel Saarinen's Central Railway station. On our way, we will stop by two important libraries, KaisaTalo (Anttinen Oiva) and Oodi (ALA) and I'll explain the unique library culture in Finland. Strolling through important buildings such as the Music Hall (LPR), Kiasma (Holl), Finlandia Hall (Aalto), National Museum of Finland (Saarinen), we will make up our way to The Rock Church (Suomalainen). On our return to downtown, we will head to The Glass Palace (Revell), Amos Rex (JKMM) and Chapel of Silence (K2S). Other things to note We will walk around 6 km, please come with comfortable walking shoes, extra layers for warmth and umbrella for rainy days. Please check out my website for various tours www.atamantours.com
In-depth tour-take you to discover the stories and secrets of Helsinki © can be customized
The main attractions combine Finnish design, bars, coffee culture, Helsinki University school visits, and can be customized. About Finnish coffee and sauna Although I like wine, coffee is better. The Finnish coffee is a sentiment, and the owner’s concept is conveyed. There are many interesting coffee shops in Helsinki. Tell me whether you add sugar or no sugar? Of course, if you want to taste wine, so can I. I love sauna very much. If you are too, I will take you to feel different excitement. I have encouraged a few friends to jump into the sea after the sauna in winter. What they didn't dare at first, but later it was worth it. About customization If you are not traveling alone, or want to extend the experience time or increase the sauna experience, you can also tell me in advance. I will arrange it according to your specific situation.
Helsinki architecture & design walk
Wonderful architecture and lively design scene of Helsinki are reasons enough to encourage you to hit the streets. Join me to learn about Helsinki, its architecture, culture and current topics and to see the city through the eyes of a local. We start our walking tour at Oodi, Helsinki Central Library, right at the heart of Helsinki. Moving at a leisurely pace, you will encounter sights as well as the hidden gems through local stories. The tour will take approximately 2 hours, covering around 4 km. When needed, we can take pauses in warm and cozy places such as design shops. Please contact me if you - would like to have a different start time or date that suits you better, as I might rearrange my timetable; - have a special interest of one particular area or theme in Helsinki, as I am happy to tailor the walking tour accordingly.
