Located on the Wisconsin River, the village of Lake Delton is one of the most beautiful natural areas in the state. Its chief feature is tranquil Lake Delton, which sits at the doorstep of lush landscapes such as Mirror Lake State Park and its bevvy of outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and cross country skiing. You can visit an interesting array of museums, including the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory Science Museum as well as the Midcontinent Railway Museum, which offers seasonal train rides and exciting exhibits on steam railroading at the turn of the 20th century. The nearby historic town of Baraboo is full of charming streets lined with locally-owned shops and boutiques. And if you’re looking to make a splash, nearby Wisconsin Dells claims to have the highest concentration of waterparks in the world.

There is no bad time to visit Lake Delton. Although the weather changes drastically throughout the year, the area has many different seasonal outdoor activities and fun festivals to attend. Summer experiences the hottest temperatures, making it a wonderful time to take advantage of the myriad outdoor activities. During spring and fall, things get a bit quieter, and you might have some attractions all to yourself. This is a great time to visit as the weather is still pleasant, and there are a slew of events, including a large number of beer festivals. By late fall, the leaves have exploded into color, creating postcard-perfect photo opportunities. The winters are cold and snowy, but it is the perfect time to cross-country ski and sled. During late November and December, there are many Christmas-themed events in the area.

Mirror Lake State Park

The Mirror Lake State Park is home to a gorgeous lake surrounded by dramatic sandstone bluffs. The park is popular for hiking and cross-country skiing on the well-maintained wooded trails as well as kayaking and canoeing on the placid lake. The park is less than a 10-minute drive from Lake Delton.

Tommy Bartlett Exploratory

With more than 175 interactive activities, this fascinating science center is the perfect year-round attraction. You can try out the high wire skycycle suspended 12 feet in the air, get a burst of energy from the 1940s static electricity generator, or sit in a 43-foot long Russian Space Station and get a taste of what it is like to live in space.

Lake Delton

Lake Delton was created as a reservoir in 1927 to help attract tourists to the area. Today, the beautiful lake is neighbored by theme parks, beaches, and other attractions such as mazes, zip lines, and escape rooms. Unsurprisingly, it is a popular spot for water activities, including swimming, boating, and fishing.
