We start our adventure with the maze of Alfama, beautiful views, going through some remarkable spots as Lisbon’s Cathedral ( where I will tell you how to make a wish), Roman ruins , not touristic Miradouros in a company with a legend of ravens and many others. Then we go up to my favorite viewpoint where you can have rest and a glass of wine or two or more. The second part of our adventure is completely different. You will discover unique street art area, an old authentic district that only few people know with it’s fado history, hidden Palace in the middle of the city, creepy church and Santa Justa Elevator( I know how to get there without paying) , Gothic Church through my secret street leading up. Get lost in Sintra with a Local / from Lisbon
Once upon a time there was a mountain full of wildlife and mysteries where ancient cultures gathered to practice pagan rituals, hunt, and protect their territory. This mountain was sacred and a respite place for people seeking peace in monasteries and pilgrimage and it still remains a sacred place for the people who grew up around it. Sintra changed a lot over time and became a very touristic place where its true essence is often forgotten. As locals, we were privileged to have lived in a moment in history where this mountain was our own “backyard”. A place where we could still find those rituals taking place, explore abandoned monasteries, palaces and sleep in the woods. We grew up to be the same curious and passionate kids we once were about our land. This is our heritage, this is our home and this is the core of the experience we want to share with you. Locals know better. Feel free to feel inspired. Come on board.A quick pick of what we’ll do throughout the day: 1.Stop at a viewpoint for an Introduction to Sintra’s History; 2.Visit to Quinta da Regaleira Palace (the one we believe best represents Sintra’s spiritual vibe); 3.Visit to an old traditional village; 4.Small hike in the sacred part of the forest; 5.Stop at Adraga Beach and cliffs. P.S. Bring snacks and drinks (we do not stop for lunch at a restaurant). Tickets for Quinta da Regaleira are not included.

Hi everyone!! The idea of this experience is to provide the best possible full day in our hometown. Knowing Sintra like the back of our hands and all the magic it has to offer, we came up with what we believe to be the most amazing and complete way of experiencing its wonders in one full day! - Start the day in Lisbon in front of Dona Maria II Theater - Our first stop will be at the historic center of Sintra to discover its beautiful labyrinth like streets. We will talk about what makes Sintra so special while discovering its secrets and taste its unique pastry. - We will then discover the Palace of Quinta da Regaleira and get lost in its 4 hectares of mysticism and romantic arquitecture and gardens. - From here we will leave the tourists behind and go through the very picturesque and hidden towns of Colares, Penedo, Almoçageme etc. to reach the open atlantic coastline. - On the coastline we will go for a waterfront lunch before exploring its brethtaking cliff views and Cabo da Roca - The end of the World! -We will then have the best postcard like views of the Pena Palace and finish the tour with a visit to this unique romantic Palace. :) Other things to note Pick up and drop off in front of Dona Maria II Theater (15 walk from most areas on the city) Google location: https://g.page/TNDMII?share Meals and Monuments fees are not included.
Sintra & Cabo da Roca & Cascais with a local guide
Sintra, this great little town has a lot of history, culture and legends to offer us. We will make several stops to visit monuments, to be dazzled by the viewpoints and to delight ourselves with the local cuisine. The Historical center with the National Palace of Sintra is the heart of this town and one of the best views of the Moorish Castle, since the Castle can be seen from almost everywhere around it, except from the entrance. Quinta da Regaleira, the most mysterious place, is the highlight of the day. Here we will visit the gardens, their mysteries and possible stories. After feeding the soul, a stop to feed the body, in a local restaurant. High up in the mountains, the fairytale palace, Pena Palace, is the next stop. A free walk through the Pena gardens will take you to the palace and terraces, where the view is breathtaking. We change direction, heading for the westernmost point of the European continent: Cabo da Roca. A brief stop to keep in memory this magical view. Back in Lisbon, we will pass the coast and the town of Cascais, the Portuguese Riviera. The tour is by private transport but it is only good for getting between the most distant points because some walking is necessary in Sintra due to traffic and parking restrictions. Being a mountain, the inclination is inevitable, however I will do my best to minimize the distances.
Foodies Lovers Walk
Prepare your senses! Taste and olfaction are the only requirements to enjoy this unique experience to the heart of the Portuguese gastronomy! This is a great way to brush up on the restaurant scene and discover street food vendors, local taverns and some of the best places for photos in Lisbon. As your belly goes from rumbling to full, you will learn all about the origins of Portuguese cuisine, and devour tasty nuggets of history and culture in each neighborhood you pass through. - "A must do in Lisbon for all Foodies!" - "Good experience to meet new people!" - "Be sure to come hungry!" - "You will be stuffed!" - "Great intro to Lisbon" In this experience we stop in 6 different places. Will be divided as follows: - welcome drink (1st stop) - Starters (2nd-4th stop) - Main course (5th stop) - Dessert (6th stop) Ideal for those who have just arrived in Lisbon! > Street food > Viewpoint > Local taverns > Historical Contextualization > Restaurants tips > Meet new people > Vegetarians can be accommodated on request > The experience will be guided only in English For more informations: go@gle Portugallium Check out my other experience: "WINE NOT?"

Your guide to Lisbon

What do locals do in Lisbon?

Go sailing

Lisbon has a long maritime history, dating back to 1497 when Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama successfully sailed to India and back in one year. Today, locals love taking their sailboats out on the Tagus River, and many of them offer boat tours and sailing excursions.

Relax over fado music

Fado is a musical tradition that is still very alive on a walk along city streets. Revelers dip into small clubs and bars, or sometimes stop on the street, to enjoy this emotive music that is best characterized by powerful vocals often accompanied by a string quartet. Join local hosts (sometimes fado singers themselves) who can show you the very best of the genre on pub crawls and in venues such as Coliseu Lisbon.

Enjoy wine tastings

Portugal is known for its viticulture, especially Douro Valley, some 240 miles from Lisbon. Closer to home, locals enjoy a day of wine tastings in the Arrábida region, where beaches, a national park, and villages offer a relaxing escape from city life. Skip the hassle of driving and book a private or small-group tour to enjoy this region with a local expert.

What do locals eat and drink in Lisbon?

Portuguese gastronomy is as delicious as its history is rich. When in Lisbon, the diverse menu goes beyond Portuguese with Italian, Japanese, and other global fare, but no visit is complete until you’ve encountered what this country invented (and/or perfected) over the centuries.

Tinned Fish

Ask any Michelin-rated chef, or food connoisseur, and you know that tinned fish is having a moment in the culinary world. But that’s nothing the Portuguese haven’t known for centuries. What was once fast food is now an art form — decorative tins packed with everything from anchovies to caviar are in high demand in places such as the Time Out Market Lisboa.

Bacalhau

Portuguese cod is a treasured dish, one that even has its own saying: “There are more than 365 ways to cook bacalhau, one for every day of the year.” Experience the customs and history of this dish, among others, on food tours that focus on the local community and sustainable practices.

Pasteis de nata

Picture this: a group of 17th-century monks making egg custards. The result? The quintessential Portuguese pastry known as pasteis de nata, invented in Lisbon’s Belém District. Try your hand at making this delectable treat in baking classes with local chefs.

Ginjinha (Ginja)

Portugal is best known as the birthplace of port wine, but Lisbon has celebrated this as its own special drink for centuries. Stop at one of many small ginjinha bars around the city to taste this cherry liqueur.

Petiscos

This is the Portuguese answer to tapas, where plates overflow with cheeses, meats, olives, and fruits from local markets. Wash it all down with a crisp glass of vinho verde.

What are the best day trips from Lisbon?

Sintra

Just a 30-minute drive from Lisbon, nestled in the foothills of the Sintra Mountains, lies a town that looks like it came straight from a storybook. Leafy streets shade cafe tables and quaint shops on your way to the colorful Palácio da Pena (Pena Palace). Here you can explore on your own, or with guided tours, to see where Portuguese kings and queens called home for hundreds of years.

Lagos

Situated in the Algarve region, and about 2.5 hours south of Lisbon by car, Lagos is an ultimate beach getaway where you can kayak, go paragliding, and take relaxing boat cruises where you might even see dolphins. In the old town, enjoy historic architecture, wine tastings, and small bites.
