Experience what it feels like to be a local! This 3-hour experience focuses on standing izakayas in Kyobashi, a neighborhood filled with small, local favorite restaurants and bars. Eat and drink like a local in these hidden gems while interacting with friendly Osaka locals! With me as your local host, you will be encouraged to try old-school izakaya foods and interact with locals in a way that you otherwise wouldn't. We will go to 2-3 standing izakayas in Kyobashi for you to try various Japanese and Osaka local foods. The places I will take you to have no English signs or menus, but not to worry, I will translate them for you! By the end of the tour, you'll be able to order your own next round of food and drinks! Come with me to eat and drink like locals, with locals. Other things to note FOOD/DRINKS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE FEE. Please know that the experience will be taken place in STANDING izakayas and they are smoking-friendly. This experience is NOT be for those who have many food restrictions or are very specific about the dishes they want.
Learn Kawaii wagashi making over matcha
I invite you to enter my atelier normally not accessible. A local fluent translator will help me in explaining details about wagashi ingredients, motifs, and technique! First you will learn about basic ingredients, materials and tools for making wagashi using visual chart, and I will demonstrate the basic skills step by step for you to follow and do the same way by modelling, moulding, and shaping your own Japanese sweet. You can learn not only the basic skills of making, but also the beauty of Japanese traditional colours used and how I express seasons in the design of the "sweets". Don't worry, you can take your time at your own pace, and focus on getting inspiration and enjoying the making! When some difficult techniques needed, of course I will help you. :-)  Also, you can ask me to take photos of your making as you have to keep your hands clean! Making will be about 40 minutes, and when finished, you will have a matcha tea time to taste your own wagashi. We can pack the remaining wagashi for your taking out! Ingredients are red beans(azuki), white kidney beans, sugar, yam potato, agar, and edible colors from vegetables and plants. Sometimes I may use egg yolk or rice powder, which I can avoid if you ask me in advance.
Osaka Mountain Hike and Trout Fishing
Do you want to experience Japanese nature deeply? How about hiking a holly and historical mountain, Mt. Kongo in Osaka? We take train and bus for total one hour to the mountain. In the beginning, you feel nature by tasting fresh mountain water. Also, you can stop by a genuine tofu shop which serves delicious soy milk. There are several popular courses, but I lead you to a secret one. On the course, you hike for 2 hours and experience various things like ・Walking along a beautiful creek, ・Climbing rocks (Don't worry. It is just few steps), ・Being impressed by 3 waterfalls, ・Going up a creek by hopping stones, and more! On the peak, you will enjoy the spectacular scenery, and have a light meal like a rice ball and a cup noodle. I also show you a temple (at the summit!) and a miracle elder couple cedar. On the way down, we take the main course for 1 hour and greet other hikers. At last, you enjoy fishing for rainbow trouts at a fishing ground. Surprisingly, you eat caught fresh fish in two delicious ways ( grilled and fried ) for lunch at an on-site restaurant. ※A light meal and lunch are not included. ※We meet up at Abenobashi station at 7:50 or 8:50. ※Depending on the situation such as bad weather and your condition, the course is subject to be altered. ※This is available in winter. In the January 2023 issue of Nagomi, a tea ceremony at a temple in Kyoto, which our classroom will hold in February, was published in tea ceremony magazine. Many customers have made reservations for January 2023. This month, we received an offer of a cultural experience in our classroom from the world's most rated five-star hotel. In January 2023, students will come to the classroom to practice. The tea ceremony masters in our classroom are tea masters with very difficult tea ceremony qualifications. In January 2021, Japanese culture precious wood was nominated for the Travel & Hospitality Awards. In March 2021,Japanese culture precious wood was selected as the winner of the Travel & Hospitality Awards Learning Experience of the Year in Japan. Kendo experience inside the Osaka Castle
Step right in to the Samurai world at the foot of the largest castle in Japan. “OSAKA Castle KENDO Experience" is for families, group or individuals who have desire to learn the BUSHIDO ("WAY OF SAMURAI") values through experiencing the traditional martial arts, KENDO (WAY OF SWORD). BUSHIDO values are the foundational behavioral and moral codes that formed the basics of Japanese mind. At the start of the experience, you will get dressed up with Kendo uniform, then learn the basic gestures, movements and skills by the instruction of a professional Kendo player, who started Kendo from his childhood.After that, you will wear all the Kendo armors and practice all the skills with your team members. The instructor will teach you everything in English. Q&A is always welcomed during the workshop. It is a very safe family activity but exciting enough to meet your adventurous expectation! Homestyle Ramen cook &Gyoza from scratch
We will cook home-style ramen broth and ramen toppings like grilled pork, seasoned egg, and the other toppings, and Gyoza from scratch. All recipes were created by me to recreate easily at home. In general, it takes a long time, to make ramen broth but you will learn how to cook ramen broth made from chicken within 30 mins without instant soup stock. Firstly, I will explain all ingredients to make the dishes. Then, I will demonstrate how to make all the dishes and we will cook together. Finally, we will eat them and enjoy chatting after finishing cooking. WHAT TO EXPECT ・Understand basic Japanese ingredients ・Learn how to prepare all the ingredients to make ramen soup and the toppings ・Learn how to make gyoza skin and gyoza filling ・Learn how to wrap gyoza and grill My lessons are not only about watching demonstrations but also putting them into practice as I want to give you enough information to help you cook them again when you return home. We will make a deco rolled sushi. Deco rolled sushi is very artistic and popular because of cute characters and winding of beautiful paintings. It is a fun and delicious experience! I will teach the basic of unwinding such as amount of rice and vinegar, how to use the sushi-mat, how to handle seaweed, how to put rice and how to cut sushi. Even those who do not have confidence can make beautiful rollings. While eating the sushi we made, I would like to talk as much as possible about questions on deco rolling as well as other questions about Japan and sights of Osaka. Abandoned Railway Walk Through Tunnels
Are you looking for an adventure which is mixed with nature and artefacts? I invite you to a unique hiking experience on an abandoned railway outside of Osaka! We meet up at JR Osaka station and move to the station 40 minutes away We explore the 5 km (3 miles) railway for 2 hours. At the start of the trail, you see a beautiful pristine river with many huge boulders which runs along the entire trail. The best part of the hike are the 6 tunnels which were made of mostly bricks. The longest one is 400m (1,300ft) . We enter tunnels with flashlights, feel a different atmosphere and observe the insides. If you pay attention, you can discover several interesting features of the tunnels. Afterwards, we will have wild game meat dishes (boar/deer) for lunch/dinner at a local restaurant. You pay for your own meal. (VEGAN MENU IS AVAILABLE) ※THE RESTAURANT CLOSES ON MONDAY. If you book on Monday, I can recommend a restaurant according to your request. After that,we relax at a free natural foot bath. Soaking your feet in hot water will relieve the weariness of the hiking! Lastly, we return to JR Osaka station. ※※This experience is available in winter season. It would be snowy a bit from mid of December to February. Special equipments are not necessary. You'll learn how to make both the most delicious udon and dashi in Japan from scratch, and enjoy the udon with two ways of eating such as hot udon and the chilled one. We have various kinds of udon in Japan, and each region has original udon actually. The udon you'll make is the most famous and the most popular in Japan because of its elasticity. You'll use not only hands but also feet to make udon strong chewy. This is the traditional recipe, but only this udon. And also, you'll learn how to make Osaka-style Japanese soup stock. Umami comes from the Osaka soup stock culture, and the Osaka-style broth is the most delicious. We chose this best combination so that you could enjoy the best udon in Japan. And more, You'll learn how to make one more side dish using the leftover ingredients after filtering soup. We're sure that you will be amazed at its deliciously as well as SDGs idea. We use high-quality ingredients and seasonings so that you can enjoy the best Udon dishes in this experience. In the process of boiling the udon noodles, the udon noodles are not boiled individually. We boil the udon noodles of all the guests together. If you do not prefer this way, please make a reservation for private. This is a group tour. Nara was Japan's first capital 1300 years ago. Discover old city Nara & real Japan. We visit 3 world heritage sites, Nara park and hidden jem. We meet at Kintetsu Nara station of Kintetsu railway at 9:30 AM. (1)Begin the tour with the statue of Gyoki. (2)Enjoy walking shopping street and explore Nara famous food and Nara souvenir. (3)Enjoy Yomogi-Mochi at famous sweets shop (4) Kohfukuji Temple(world heritage) (5)Nara Park Visit places only locals know. I explain the habit of visiting temples and shrines and how Japanese pray, the difference between temples and shrines. Explore the basis and background they have. (6)Sagiike pond (7)The shrine with the Japanese Shinto deities of love (8)Kasuga Taisha shrine (world heritage) (9)break for lunch at a nice Japanese Udon restaurant. Lunch fee is not included. Making Mochi Party on new year's eve!
First, we're gonna prepare to make mochi. And explain how to make mochi. Usually we use tools(stone bowl and wooden hummer) for making mochi. But this time we use a machine to make it. maybe it's not a traditional way. But the machine is still working almost 40 years. I think it's also a traditional machine making. After that, we're gonna make our own mochi and tasting mochi with some ingredients. We're also gonna make "Oshiruko". Oshiruko is Red beans soup with mochi. If you had plenty, we can share them you can't eat during party. You can bring it up for your journey. On December 31, trains will be working all night long. So you don't need to care about time! The ending time of experience is about 9:00pm. But It's allowed to stay here after the experience:) We're gonna stay here until midnight or morning on January 1, new year day. Let's enjoy together! We meet at MIRAIZA next to Osaka castle at 6:20 AM we will join RADIO TAISO , a physical warm-up exercise with local people at Osaka castle 6:30~6:40. that's make you wake up and feel better before meditation. then explain and do meditation about 1 hour at the corner , west of castle. Other things to note it's too far from Kyoto. Come to subway TANIMACHI 4 CHOME station or JR Morinomiya station then walk about 20 minutes. it's outside, so bring your hat etc. in summer. wearing a coat etc. in winter.
