I sailed San Francisco Bay!
Please reach out for custom dates! Late fall and early winter provide smooth passages, balmy temperatures, and wonderful sunsets! Welcome aboard a large sailboat, a Downeaster 38. Designed by renowned naval architect, Henry Morschlad, this Downeaster is in exceptionally good condition. Downeasters are known for being stout and seaworthy bluewater cruisers. They can be found all over the globe. This experience is available for up to six guests and is great for groups and team building. Your three-hour adventure starts at Jack London Square. The route will depend on wind conditions; however, our goal is to cross the bay to see the marvelous sites of South Beach Harbor (home of the SF Giants), the financial district, the bay bridge, and then Treasure Island. During the tour, you'll see amazing wildlife; including, flocks of pelicans, sea lions, and the occasional dolphin! This is an active experience! I will review the basics of sailing (wind angle, general terms for operating the vessel, and rules of the road). You will take a turn at the helm (wheel), manage the sheets that control the sails, and raise and lower the sails. Naturally, you are also welcome to just sit back and enjoy the amazing views.

Third, we will bake mochi donuts and then glaze them beautifully with vanilla, clear, or chocolate glaze. You and other guests will enjoy making and shaping the mochi dough, filling it with delicious fillings, and eating them with others. You will get to enjoy fresh and tasty mochi, and best of all you will know how to make delicious mochi dishes far into the future. Other things to note: Please feel free to bring any additional ingredients you would like to fill your mochi with (peanut butter, mango, etc...)
Japanese Spoon Carving
Japanese wood carving is rooted in personal wellness, relaxation, and an age-old meditative tradition of making with your hands. For me, it's the best way to express and channel my creative energy as a designer. I will teach you how to hand carve your own wooden spoon using traditional Japanese tools and techniques. The class will start with a slow breathing exercise that leads into a discussion of different wood types, an explanation of the tools required, and an overview of the techniques used to cut wood. Once you have a basic understanding, I will guide you through the process of carving the bowl of the spoon with the spoon gouge, then designing and whittling the handle and top of the spoon. When the final design has been reached, we will find zen in our creation. Other things to note Please wear closed-toe shoes, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We will be carving and making a beautiful mess! Class will be held outside in Oakland if weather permits, exact location sent out a few days before class.

Crabbing under the Golden Gate Bridge
We will meet at a pier in the Marina/Presidio district of San Francisco where we will be located near the Golden Gate Bridge. The views of the water will be spectacular and because of the size of the pier we will have more than enough room to spread out and try our techniques. Make sure to arrive early so you can find parking and pay for it if need be near The Warming Hut cafe. Once all the guests have arrived we will learn to set up the equipment we will supply with a very detailed explanation of how and why we use particular gear. Once we have set up our rods, filled our bait in our traps we will learn the different forms of casting and the technique of reeling. Because we are fishing for crab there is a different approach to how you catch crab off of a rod and reel. We will not be allowed to take home any Dungeness crab, unfortunately, because the Bay is a protected estuary. As a result we will be catching rock & red crab which are edible and delicious crabs to take home. This experience is an all weather endeavor so rain or shine we will make it happen. Please join me as many others have to see if spending an afternoon out on the waterfront of the bay, meeting new people and learning a skill is right for you! Great for big groups, corporate outings and team building exercises! Please inquire directly if you have 10+ people www.theartofcrabbing.com
Lakehouse Jazz
Enjoy the most and most and best-reviewed music experience on Airbnb WORLDWIDE! By attending this event not only you’ll listen and learn all things jazz from some of the best musicians but also, you'll be actively supporting the local art scene and its community. Kudos! Other things to note: Every week (Fridays & Saturdays) we feature new bands and it's a secret, so you won't know who is performing in advance. This makes each concert unique and fresh. All things Jazz, from 1920's Swing to Latin Jazz, Funk, Fusion, Hip Hop and original compositions. This concert series is produced by Mellow Sessions.

Be ready to snack on some yummy house made treats compliments of the food team. Chinese Wontons and Connection
The theme for Sunday Suppers is from my childhood family tradition: Chinese Wontons. Together we will wrap and enjoy wontons (typically pork but I will provide alternatives to accommodate dietary restrictions). Each gathering I’ll pose a question for the table to share and get to know each other. Not only will you know how to make and enjoy the Chinese wontons of my childhood, you’ll also come away feeling the magic of connection.

Best of Berkeley History Walking Tour
Hear about the history and culture that makes Berkeley one of the most famous cities in the world. We'll stroll safely through campus and the surrounding areas. This activity is 100% outdoors, and attendance is limited so the conversation can flow more easily. We'll meet at 2150 Shattuck Avenue, next to the downtown Berkeley BART station. We'll learn about Berkeley's downtown area, then cross through UC Berkeley's campus alongside tree-lined Strawberry Creek. We'll pass by the Free Speech Cafe and talk about Berkeley's protests. Finally, we'll walk the historic route from Sproul Plaza to People's Park. Afterward you can shop for one-of-a-kind jewelry and t-shirts on Telegraph Avenue. A number of restaurants are now open, so you can grab some lunch. Other things to note: This is a history-focused tour, but the topics we cover during our walk are flexible based on everyone's interests. Please be sure to tell Pam what topics you are most interested in and she can also adjust at any point in the tour based on the questions and topics that guests bring up as we stroll from downtown Berkeley to People's Park. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. I also recommend sunscreen and cash for refreshments and street artists. There are lots of great options for lunch and activities after the tour.

The Surreal San Francisco Walking Tour
PLEASE NOTE: this is NOT a regular walking tour. It’s an edgy, outrageous, uniquely-San Franciscan experience. Have a few laughs with storyteller-extraordinaire Clyde Always, the Bard of Bay City, former headliner at these local venues: the Marsh Theater, the Lost Church and Café International on Haight. You’ll be dazzled by many of Clyde’s own modern MYTHS, LEGENDS, FABLES and FAIRYTALES. They may feature witches & pirates, hobos & hipster-devils... Make sure you bring your imagination. In between these zany stories, your host will be pointing out various dives, murals, coffeehouses, landmarks, shops and stunning Victorians—no shortage of grammable photo-ops, here. Miles away from the rest of the tourists, you’ll get some insider knowledge of three of the City’s hippest neighborhoods—the Mission, the Castro and the Haight. Looking for fun things to do and delicious things to eat? Clyde’s got the hot tips. BE WARNED! Your host is a fast-talker and he may tell you a few phony “facts.” Take anything he says with a grain of salt. If you’re offended by profanity, soap will be provided (but bring your own water). Scared of heights? Rest easy—the route involves no hill climbing! This stroll is guaranteed to entertain, enliven and uplift both visitors and locals alike. **Please, for PRIVATE GROUPS, DM to check availability before booking. **
