You'll learn who the world's worst poet was and which Hogwarts character is named after him as well as visiting the grave of Lord Voldemort himself. From Greyfriars we'll take you out into the streets, past the suspiciously named Potterrow and on to three locations where JK Rowling wrote. We'll track her escalation of wealth from relying on free coffees from her brother-in-law in the Nicolson Cafe to trashing the most expensive hotel in the city, via the famous Elephant House. We conclude our tour on the real life Diagon Alley, better known by muggles as Victoria Street. This tour is highly interactive with a house point competition along the way and plenty of opportunities to ask our expert guides whatever you like. Create a sustainable fine art print using flowers & sunlight
Join artist Jess Holdengarde and artist/florist Molly Mae Whawell of fLowers_. In a fun-filled morning at a professional photographic studio, we will create a unique artwork to take home - using flowers and sunlight! Gain a new sustainable photographic skill and learn about the historical meanings surrounding the tradition of gifting flowers. Molly Whawell will introduce us to the coded language of floriography, used by Victorians to express affections, desires or destain through flower-giving. She will also dip into some of the compositional skills used by florists and artists alike in the creation of their works. We will select from fresh flowers to create unique meaning and form in our artworks. Jess Holdengarde will then introduce us to a plant-based photographic process which will use flowers to make a naturally developed photographic print. The lumen print is a solar photogram - an image created on photographic paper, exposed by the sun. It began as one of photography’s earliest experiments in the 19th century. A perfect gift for yourself or loved one as we transfer the act of of giving flowers into a more permanent fine art print that you can take home with you at the end of the day! This is an environmentally friendly analogue process, all materials will be provided at the workshop along with light refreshments and snacks!
