Retro Inspired Design Home in the Heart of Sandwich
Unwind by the open fireplace at this retro-styled Victorian terrace in the heart of the medieval town of Sandwich. Start your day with a fresh coffee in the flint walled courtyard garden, then take a leisurely stroll to the quay for the best fish & chips. With a modern twist on traditional, the cottage has a timeless & hip look. And it's on such a picturesque quiet street too. The old town streets are charming; an English 1580s inn is just around the corner. Perfectly set up for couples, families or small groups of friends. Travel cot & high chair available, games & books for younger kids. The accommodation is a terraced 2 double bedroom early Victorian cottage. It fits a family four plus an infant in a travel cot or two couples comfortably. It is on a beautiful, quiet residential street in the heart of Sandwich with buildings dating back hundreds of years, grand walls and properties that are lovingly renovated and cared for. Staying on Vicarage Lane really is a delight. The kitchen is brand new and integrated with dishwasher and washing machine and there is also a lovely outside courtyard space with bbq and table and chair set. We've tried to think of everything to make your stay as good as possible. It takes less than a minute to walk to the amenities of Sandwich. The whole property is yours to enjoy including the private courtyard garden. As much or as little as you like! We live 4 miles from the accommodation so we can easily reach you. Responsive to messages. Sandwich really is a delight with timber-framed houses leaning over narrow streets. Follow the town trail taking in the historic sites, then relax on the quay with its cosy pubs and good eateries. Pop into the No Name Shop to devour a fresh pastry or walk across the sand dunes of St. George's golf course to reach the shingle expanse of Sandwich Bay. And there are even the remains of a Roman Fort that can be reached by river bus or head out to the estuary to spot seals. Sandwich is a joy to walk around. Sandwich Bay and our beautiful stretch of the East Kent coast is just a mile and a half away and can be reached easily by car, bus or train or bike. There are frequent bus and trains including a fast train service to/from London and the UNESCO site of Canterbury can also be reached easily by public transport. There is parking close by in pay and display car parks (on Mon to Sat no charge after 5.30 until 8.30 the following morning. Free all day Sunday). The car can be parked up in front of the cottage for unloading. Travelling from Europe the port of Dover is just 12 miles away and Eurotunnel terminal Folkestone a 35 minute car drive. Gatwick is the closest airport and is an hour and 30 minutes drive. Sandwich really is a delight with timber-framed houses leaning over narrow streets. Follow the town trail taking in the historic sites, then relax at the quay in a cosy inn. Pop into the No Name Shop to devour a fresh pastry. Feeling more energetic, then take the public footpath across the sand dunes of St. George's golf course to reach the shingle expanse of Sandwich Bay. You can even travel the River Stour to spot seals and other wildlife. Canterbury, a UNESCO world heritage site is close by.
