Craft postcards in a family paper shop
On arrival, we'll create our own handmade paper from the raw ingredients, which will be turned into four postcards. Designing the paper with pressed flowers and leaves is the most fun process. While drying the paper, we'll watch a short movie about how Japanese paper is made, enjoy chatting over drinks. When the paper is dried, I'll show you how to use a traditional brush pen to write messages on the cards in Japanese. At the end, I 'll be able to guide you on how to mail your unique cards to your friends or family. Other things to note; Please be sure to bring the mailing addresses of the people you want to send your postcards to.
Learn Kawaii wagashi making over matcha
I invite you to enter my atelier normally not accessible. A local fluent translator will help me in explaining details about wagashi ingredients, motifs, and technique! First you will learn about basic ingredients, materials and tools for making wagashi using visual chart, and I will demonstrate the basic skills step by step for you to follow and do the same way by modelling, moulding, and shaping your own Japanese sweet. You can learn not only the basic skills of making, but also the beauty of Japanese traditional colours used and how I express seasons in the design of the "sweets". Don't worry, you can take your time at your own pace, and focus on getting inspiration and enjoying the making! When some difficult techniques needed, of course I will help you. :-)  Also, you can ask me to take photos of your making as you have to keep your hands clean! Making will be about 40 minutes, and when finished, you will have a matcha tea time to taste your own wagashi. We can pack the remaining wagashi for your taking out! Ingredients are red beans(azuki), white kidney beans, sugar, yam potato, agar, and edible colors from vegetables and plants. The tour begins after meeting in my café, “d:matcha Kyoto” then we start the walking uphill through the town’s winding streets surrounded by houses built in Japanese traditional style. The first spot to visit is the scenic Yubune tea field. We continue walking surrounded by idyllic terraced fields and stunning panoramic views of endless greenery of rice and tea plantations. As we get close to the top of Hakusan Shrine, the scenery changes, we will walk through the cedar woods, experience both the fresh air high up on the mountain and the serenity of the forest. Our destination will be at d:matcha's organic tea farm and join our tea picking activity. A Gion Local's Walk by Night
First, we'll start and see the highlight of the Gion area, checking out the must see look into the "old town Kyoto". After walking through this Geisha district (where there's a possibility of seeing a real Geisha), I would like to step away from the more busy streets, walking through alleys to nearby Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, where I would like to talk about the history and significance of both. Next, I would like to walk up a path leading into an iconic sight of Kyoto, a picturesque view of both new and old. Finally, I would like to go to my favorite shrine, to talk about the history, but also my personal memories of the place. Soon across the street, we will be back at the original meeting place, where I would like to send you off into the city with recommendations of nearby places for restaurants, bars, or whatever you may be looking for! Other things to note The focus of this experience to enjoy the traditional sights of Kyoto, such as paper lanterns by older buildings. For this, we will walk during night, when most shops will be closed.

We meet in Shinsekai area, an old neighborhood of Osaka, walk around the area then head toward the Minami area, Osaka's southern city center, including world-famous "Dotonbori". Osaka is well known as the food capital of Japan, or kitchen of Japan, and you will see why once you get here. There are so many restaurants all over the city, and all kinds! I'll show you not only the variety of foods Osaka can offer but also the history of the area, Japanese culture, tradition and everyday life of local people. I'd recommend you to take my walking tour at your earliest convenience once you arrive Osaka, since I'll talk a lot about what you can do here as well as restaurant recommendations. This will be an excellent activity for you to familiarize yourself to this amazing city, and also Japan over all. I'll try my best to let you have a good time while you're in my beloved city!! There are many ceremonies in Japan. Do you know Toso(spice sake)? Toso celebrates the New Year on New Year's Day, prays for a safe year, and drinks with family. Toso is liquor soaked with medicinal herbs. The vessel is special because it is an important ceremony. Toso is only available for the New Year. So I put a little sake in the bowl. There are three bowls, so you will taste three types of sake. Underage people and people who can not drink alcohol use water. However, I will get you dressed in kimono before that. Please choose your favorite kimono. You will be excited while dress up in kimono. You will be surprised at the beauty of your kimono. Let's make a wonderful kimono style just for you! This is a small house in the city. If you wear a kimono and drink alcohol, it will feel even more delicious. Once you have a great kimono, take a picture. There is a red umbrella as a prop for taking photos. A new ninja sword has been prepared this year. If you like, go to a nearby photo spot together. After that, please go sightseeing freely with kimono. Please return by 9 pm. If you want to take a walk in Kyoto at night, please contact me by the day before. Eat and drink like a local in these hidden gems while interacting with friendly Osaka locals! With me as your local host, you will be encouraged to try old-school izakaya foods and interact with locals in a way that you otherwise wouldn't. We will go to 2-3 standing izakayas in Kyobashi for you to try various Japanese and Osaka local foods. I'll take you on a private night tour to a modern amusement arcade in Kyoto. This will be a really fun and exciting time in Kyoto with me, a guide to Japanese pop culture. You may experience traditional and historical culture throughout the day at shrines and temples. Then, join this night trip to explore Japanese pop culture by playing cutting-edge arcade games. Send a message if you would want to modify the start time. By 10 p.m., children are permitted to enter amusement arcades with their parents. First, I'll offer a brief talk on Japanese amusement arcades and related pop culture. Following that, we have fun playing the arcade games below. Did you ever had a coffee inside a shinto shrine, made from local spring water, which the Emperor was also drinking? We are going to a local shrine to drink coffee made of local spring water and enjoying the lush scenery at the shrine and exploring the unique Emperor's palace park area. We are visiting one of the oldest tea shop in Kyoto where I show you the various type of teas and utensils, and we are also visiting a fresh and modern, Japan style minimalist cafe, runned by young local entrepreneurs. Why the culture of green tea is important, what is matcha, gyokuro, sencha, what is drip coffee and what is the coffee of Japan? Lets discuss these topics on the way, where you can taste many tea or coffee of your choice. The price of the drinks are not included, everybody can freely decide what to taste and drink. Soymilk and oatsmilk are available.
Samurai Training with Modern-day Musashi
In this activity, you will wear the proper training gear and hold real katana swords to train just like the samurai did. The experience of handling a katana correctly and cutting through objects will be something you will never forget. The content of this experience: 1. Getting dressed in the training gear 2. Learning how to draw and sheath the katana safely 3. Learning how to swing the katana correctly 4. Cutting rolled tatami mats with a real katana 5. Watching the master's katana performance Your instructor will be the dojo master of a katana martial art school called “Yushin-Ryu,” and your guide/interpreter will be Shogo from the YouTube channel “Let’s ask Shogo (1.5M subscribers).” Any questions about samurai, katana and Japanese culture will be answered, so feel free to ask us anything you’d like.

In this experience, we walk around historic merchant houses street, and I'll explain the culture of Geisha (in Kyoto we call Geiko, and their apprentice is Maiko), and their lifestyle. After we walk for half an hour, we'll enter a beautiful fan studio & shop. Then we'll wait for Maiko-san to come to our place. Finally, Maiko-san came to our place, and she dances only for us, and you can ask her about their lifestyle, etc. Maiko-san can be with us for about 50 min. Watching Maiko san's makeup, Kimono, accessories, and behavior in front of you is a unique experience. - Before meeting Maiko-san, you learn about their culture. - Maiko-san will dance in front of you just for you. -You enjoy playing Tosenkyo (a fan tossing game) together with Maiko-san. -You can ask questions, and take pictures as much as you like.
