The MORNING GROUP WALKING TOUR of Palermo lasts 3 hours. My group tour is not just a food tour, but it's a mix of history, culture, architecture, monuments and street food. The MORNING GROUP WALKING TOUR starts at 9.30 am, with me or with my team of official Tour Guides and we will walk for about 4 km. In the first part of the Walking Tour we will visit monuments and churches and in the second part of the Walking Tour we will explore the big outdoor food market and we will eat the famous street food of Palermo (food included, no fish). At the end of the tour I will give you many suggestions of what you can do on your own in Palermo. You will understand Palermo and its old history! This group tour is for 15 people maximum (not suggested for little children under 7 years old, the group tour is in english). On a typical lesson day we meet in the morning at one of Palermo’s oldest markets, shop around for any items we will need for the lesson and then stroll to the air-conditioned kitchen in The Sicilian Pantry cookery school where we prepare a 4 course Sicilian meal, learning the techniques and tricks needed to recreate it when you return home. Meals are made up of a starter, pasta course, main course and desert (changes can be made for individuals with specific dietary requirements where appropriate). After the lesson we can sit down together to enjoy the fruits of our labour along with a selection of Sicilian wines rounded off with some homemade liqueurs and coffee. We believe that the true expression of Sicilian cuisine comes from the quality of its fresh seasonal produce so we strive to always ensure that we have the best of what Sicily has to offer in order to share this with our guests. This is an entertaining and informative day out, recommended for cooks of all levels. Visiting a market in Palermo is a multicultural experience, they fully express the multifaceted and cosmopolitan culture of Palermo. After our purchases, we will move towards my house, which is just a few minutes from Piazza Politeama. Here our experience will continue with the preparation of the dishes. Under my supervision my kitchen will become the scenery of your culinary creations. Sicilian cuisine, considered one of the most creative and spectacular in the world, is closely linked to the historical, cultural and religious events of the island. From the appetizer to the dessert I will tell you the origin and the history of each dish, and this will be a reason for comparison and exchange between our cultures.

Please fully read the description. I want to show you not the usual spots like Mondello, but very beautiful places I love. 3 amazing spots: 2 seaside bays and 1 river spot. We will cruise the waters of Siracusa enjoying the sights of Ortigia on board of my Tahiti Ketch, a 30 feet classic sailboat designed in U.S.A. in 1922. According to the weather conditions we will lead to the Marine Protected Area of Plemmirio where we will stop for swimming, sorrounded by nature. We sometime meet dolphins and other sea creatures in this area. While we will be sailing I would like you to help me trying your hand at ruddering Fiesta and trimming the sails with me, as part of the crew. Then we will celebrate the sunset with a nice aperitif in the bay, having a delicious tasting of food and wines made by local farmers and producers. That is the best way to enjoy our sunset. Be aware the route might be changed according to the weather conditions. Then, we get to a perfect place to observe the summit craters and the Bove Valley (the biggest one on Mt.Etna), the reason why Mt.Etna is part of the UNESCO heritage! Walking along the ridge, you will enjoy the view of the active summit craters, of the Ionian sea and of the Italian peninsula. We will descend through fun sandy canyons, which will take us to the top of some ancient craters born during last years! To get to the meeting point : - By rental car, there is a big parking. - By BUS : get BRT1 Bus line (the fast bus line in Catania). Meeting Point at the Bellini Garden in Catania(main entrance in via Etnea), a place for recreation and relaxation, known as “A Villa” by the people of Catania. After a short visit of the Garden, our tour will continue along via Etnea, the main street of Catania full of beauties in Baroque and Liberty style to be photographed and admired. Our walk will continue inside the characteristic streets of Catania, we will arrive at Piazza Federico di Svevia, seat of the Ursino Castle, where we will make a short stop and quench your palate with seltz, lemon and salt, a typical drink non-alcoholic Catania. Unmissable stop will be the fish market, where you can fully experience the folklore of the city of Catania. Una full immersion nel vulcano attivo più alto d'Europa, che da millenni affascina filosofi, artisti, scienziati e viaggiatori provenienti da ogni parte del mondo. Durante l'esperienza, attraversando paesini etnei dal caratteristico color nero "basalto" e la lussureggiante campagna etnea, raggiungeremo il punto di partenza del nostro percorso di trekking. Sarà sorprendente camminare tra fitti boschi di betulle, pino o faggio, per poi improvvisamente attraversare quella che i locali conosciamo come "Sciara", il desolatamente affascinante deserto vulcanico. Ammireremo tutta la bellezza e le contraddizioni di questo vulcano sempre in trasformazione: tra crateri estinti, paesaggi ora brulli ora lussureggianti, con una flora "eroica" che si è adattata a condizioni estreme. Durante il percorso di trekking che durerà 4h, scopriremo i vari ed interessanti fenomeni vulcanici etnei, faremo un pic-nic nel bosco durante il quale vi offrirò un bicchiere di vino etneo. Sarà un'esperienza autentica, durante la quale vi racconterò la nostra "Muntagna", dalla prospettiva di chi l'ha sempre vissuta dalle sue pendici. Vi parlerò di storia geologica, flora e fauna. Vi racconterò la mia terra anche dal punto di vista storico, antropologico, linguistico ed enogastronomico. Ma soprattutto proverò a trasmettere il viscerale legame che esiste da ormai tre millenni tra la terra vulcanica e le sue genti

Uno tra i trekking più suggestivi che proponiamo è quello ai crateri sommitali dell'Etna La salita si effettua in funivia e pulmini 4×4 fino a quota 2900m nella zona di Torre del Filosofo, da qui dopo circa 1,5h di cammino in salita si arriva sull’orlo del Cratere centrale dal quale si osserva la Bocca Nuova (3250m), apertasi nel 1968, probabilmente il cratere più impressionante. Aggirando la Bocca Nuova ci si ritrova sull’orlo della Voragine, il cuore del Cratere Centrale e da qui salendo in ripida ma breve salita per il Cratere di Nord Est, formatosi nel 1911 e vera e propria cima dell’Etna (3329m). Dalla cima possiamo spaziare a 360° con lo sguardo, e se la giornata lo permette scorgere verso nord le isole Eolie.
