Die Bruchmühlen is the only working water mill in Bruchhausen-Vilsen, a village 30 km south of Bremen with the oldest railway museum in Germany. In the rolling landscape around the mill, it is great for hiking and cycling.
The Bruchmühlen was the economic heart of the Heiligenberg monastery, founded in 1219. The mill was first mentioned in 1370. From that time there are still walls to be found in the mill building. The mill house, where the guest rooms are, dates from the 18th century.
