Summer is the most popular time to visit Laguna Beach, as the warm weather, beach lifestyle, and three back-to-back art festivals draw visitors to the area. Come in fall or spring, though, and while the water may be a tad cold for swimming, the atmosphere will be more tranquil, and you’ll have your pick of spots to enjoy the shoreline. The weather is fairly warm all year and, allowing you to sunbathe from March through late October. The winter months tend to be quiet around town. But between hiking, picking up treats at farmers’ markets, touring nearby vineyards, and admiring local art, there is plenty on offer here outside of peak beach season.

First Thursday

Every first Thursday of the month, take a look at the creations of local artists, each with a story to tell. Listen to live music, see special installations, and meander around town taking in one gallery tour after another as they all open their doors to welcome visitors and locals alike.

Laguna Canyon

Discover the twists and turns of the Laguna Canyon. Walking down the cliffs, you will come across massive sycamore trees lining the way as you follow the scenic trails. Take a tour with a naturalist for a unique insight into the unique animals that inhabit this area, along with colorful wildflowers and native plant species.

Wine tasting

If you haven’t yet experienced California wine, this is your chance. Vineyards and wineries — as well as many restaurants serving local bottles — pepper the coast in and around Laguna Beach. Make a day of it and sample some beautiful regional vintages, sipping with scenic views of the ocean and rows of verdant vines.
