Located in southwestern Oklahoma, Medicine Park is a small community with significant Native American history and cobblestone architecture dating back to the early 1800s. As Oklahoma's first resort town, Medicine Park also offers an abundance of open-air activities, including boating, horseback riding, and rock climbing throughout its picturesque countryside dotted with wildlife. The community is surrounded by the rocky landscape of the imposing Wichita Mountains, encircling the northwest part of town, and there are several lakes, including the popular Bath Lake. Outside of Medicine Park, the landscape ranges from sweeping green prairies to rugged wilderness dotted with bison.

Summer is the peak season for Medicine park cabin rentals and outdoor activities, and you can join the town's annual birthday celebration in early July. Fall is beautiful as the leaves start to change colors. The Native American Festival and Art Walk happens in October, with performances by local and regional artists. Winter brings colder temperatures but offers a richer view of the starry sky and snow-covered mountain landscape. Spring is a beautiful time to visit and enjoy the wildflower blooms. Mountain bike enthusiasts flock to the April Fools Mountain Bike Festival in early April.

Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Museum

Located 20 minutes away from the center of Medicine Park, Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Museum offers 144,514 square feet of military history. This is the only national memorial in Oklahoma and it also pays tribute to the soldiers and Native Americans who lived on Fort Sill during its 200-year history. Exhibits detail how leaders, activists, and celebrities have influenced America's military presence.

Southern Plains Indian Museum

Around 50 minutes from town in Anadarko, the Southern Plains Indian Museum is home to three galleries, which showcase art created by Indigenous peoples including the Wichita, Southern Cheyenne, and Kiowa. The on-site collection includes more than 5,000 artifacts including eagle feather bonnets and buffalo hide tipis, and the museum also highlights the work of contemporary craftspeople. Minutes away, the National Hall of Fame for Famous American Indians is an open-air gallery of busts of historically important Native Americans.

The Lawtonka Trails in Medicine Park

With six trails to choose from, Lawtonka Trails is a great way to explore the beautiful cobblestone landscape of Medicine Park. Situated just minutes from town, these trails wind between Lake Lawtonka and Mount Scott — offering picturesque views of boulders, rock formations, winding creeks, and the tree-covered mountain terrain. Hikers can choose from a leisurely stroll to more challenging treks, or bring a mountain bike for a refreshing ride with scenic views.
