Nature Walks with Llamas
Join us and our llamas for a 2-mile nature walk and explore the trails on our farm. We'll walk trails along our pastures and into the woods with your own llama companion. You'll learn the history of the camelid family, llama domestication, and how llamas and alpacas are used today. We'll also have the opportunity to tour the farm facility, meet the rest of the herd, and learn more about how we prepare and use their fiber. Other things to note: * We reserve the right to cancel an experience in the event of bad weather - we will walk in light rain, but will cancel in the event of heavy rain; * We do not schedule these walks in the middle of summer (July and August) as it gets too hot for the animals, but will add days from time to time over the summer as we check the weather forecast for cooler days. * Parts of the trails may be wet, muddy, or icy especially in winter, we'll navigate these areas carefully or find alternate routes as necessary. * guests should wear closed toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing that is suitable for light hiking Each child under 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and will share a llama on the trails with an adult unless they've had prior experience with handling large livestock. Please do not ask to bring your pup as saying ‘no’ makes us sad.
Make a Celebration Ring
We will begin with a peek in the Gallery, featuring jewelry handcrafted by US artisans, and a tour of our Studio School. I will also share some history of our 1890 Victorian-era building. Then, you will form the strip into a circle and solder it together (with help). Finally, oxidize (blacken) the ring, and polish to your desired finish. We limit the workshop to four students to guarantee lots of personal instruction, as well as the opportunity to get to know your classmates. Other things to note Unfortunately, our Victorian-era building is not fully accessible to the handicapped.
Art & Soul of Black Broadway
Discover the musical heritage of U Street --aka Black Broadway-- from jazz to hip hop to punk to go go. Walk the streets & back alleys and learn how murals, theatres, music venues, and memorials embrace the history of this amazing neighborhood. Along the way, we'll listen to a diverse playlist that will match up with the murals and venues. Other things to note: This tour ends at the intersection of 13th & U NW, 8 blocks from the starting point. Typically I hold tours rain or shine, unless the weather posses a safety hazard (lightning, ice, tornado, etc). Come Sail With Us!
We're vaccinated for your safety and peace of mind! When you book our sailing experience, your payment goes to fund our non-profit outreach programs. Join our group experience as we sail around Baltimore Harbor and the Patapsco river (can be booked as a private experience as well). Do as much, or as little as you like. Take the helm, hoist and trim the sails, tack, jibe, or just sit back and enjoy the ride. We'll leave from Tindeco Wharf and sail out into the harbor. From there, we decide to sail toward the inner harbor or out past Fort McHenry, into the Patapsco river toward the Key bridge. This is a great opportunity to get more sailing time and develop your sailing skills under the watchful eye of a US Sailing Master Instructor Trainer. Never sailed before? No problem, during our time we'll teach you as much as you want. Just get away from it all on a relaxing sail? That not a problem either. Bring snacks and beverages to enjoy and just take in the breeze and enjoy the sights and sounds of sailing. Other things to note We're sailing on the 36' sailboat so it's not likely you'll get wet (unless it is raining). We will sail in light rain, but not in thunderstorms. If you enjoy your experience, it is okay to tip your captain and crew as you would any other in the service industry.

Learn how to make kebabs on a charcoal grill like a pro
I’m a Kurdish chef and restaurateur who specializes in kebabs and grilled meat. What you may think of as late night fast food after an evening clubbing is in reality an ancient signature dish of my homeland with a history dating back to Central Asia and ancient Persia. Grilled meat in kebab-type preparation was depicted in Byzantine Greek icons and described in Homer’s Odyssey. This dish has some history! And I'll teach you about it, and show how to respect it - through preparation, grilling and serving. We will both prepare and eat an amazing meal together! What we’ll grill: The only true method for cooking authentic kebabs is over fire, so we’ll start with how to prepare and manage an open charcoal grill the natural way (no lighter fluid). These methods can be replicated, but best to learn the process with someone whose specialty is in open fire grilling. I will show you how to grill kebabs + chicken wings perfectly. I will explain what type of meat goes on various skewers, the process of marinating and how to keep the meat tender. I’ll give a tutorial on spices and we’ll prepare together (hands-on) side dishes of tzatziki (yogurt, cucumber and mint), Antep ezme (spicy Kurdish salsa), and onion salad with sumac and isot. I’ll show you unique Kurdish hospitality - we’ll share a unique meal together with tea and baklava for dessert.
